Smart Contracts for Copyright Protection in the Modern Supply Chain (in preparation)

This chapter illustrates the broad range of real-world applications of smart contracts, by examining the advantages and disadvantages of blockchain-based smart contracts in relation to copyright in the modern supply chain. Copyright has long been enforced through various technological means; however, copyright infringements still remains a significant problem. The modern supply chain is a complex network of suppliers and creators and it has become increasingly difficult to control and track the distribution of unregistered IP rights. This chapter will use the AffectUs:TagItSmart semantic framework ( as a use case example to demonstrate how the aforementioned concepts could be implemented. The transformation of these rules and use of semantics to generate smart contracts will provide a more effective and multi-layered end-to-end smart contract and supply chain solution.
